WHAT THE STUPID FREAKING HELL!!! ARGH!!!! I JUST WROTE THE BESTEST REVIEW EVER AND THE STUPID WINDOW CLOSED ON ME!!!! WTFFF!!!! >:C
Okay, enough with that. *mutters curse words under her breath* I'm going to try to repeat everything I said, but it won't sound as good as before >.<
I'd been saying that is piece is just awesome!

This truly is ambience with spirit.
What I especially love about this piece is its floaty feel. I like how the melody comes fading in, bring in a feeling of greatness. This is where, after a lifelong search, the very greatness is found. The characters are amazed, at the top of a mountain, gazing in awe.
It brought this epic, rising feeling of power. It was truly uplifting!
To me, only after listening a second time, I noticed that the drums came in a little early for a full effect. That may be what you were talking about, how everything hushed a little when they came in. But like I said, it was only after listening a second time that I noticed.

In absolute honesty, this really blew me over. This=underrated. Now it's in the 4s where it belongs >:D

x-Exodus-X responds:

Ahhh, I hate that than happens!!! >:[

You're review still sounds pretty damn awesome to me :P

I'm really glad you felt something from this piece! I was going for that kind of mood.
I'm in Seattle right now, so I'm really experiecing a lot that you're describing haha.

The drums were weird. I dunno. I think I'm gonna have them fade in, but I have to try it out first to be sure. I will probably end up editing this to make it a little better.

Thanks a lot! Great review!

Talk to you later, Vesta :)

Hmm..

It doesn't bring me to tears...it seems more like a dangerous kind of depression..it's mysterious. I like it!
Right from the very beginning, the bells and pizzicato lead you on suspensefully, but not too intense; just enough to keep you going, while the synths in the background relentlessly carry on. I imagine the sad young past of a character being displayed explicitly. I wish you luck in the MAC, you late contestant >:D
-Vesta J

EchozAurora responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, I decided not to go for the straight crying sad with this, but hopefully it is still well received, definitely agree on the mysterious part. And late?.. c'mon.. I was 3 hours early if anything.. Procrastination FTW!

Haha!

Cute as ever :D Very entertaining like the original!
Of course, with the bass being my favorite part, the different percussion was particularly uplifting ^^

Hades responds:

Damn, this song's cuteness is killing my awesome-macho image. ;D

As usual, thanks a lot for reviewing!

An especially great intro. Timeless track :D

It's weird, though..the first time I listened to this, the timpani sounded staticy. I forgot the actual word, though.. I think it's just Firefox. Sometimes it screws up the song.

Anyway, back to the song: I love the honorable feel it has. This doesn't make me sad or anything, but it is kind of depressing. I would count this more to the postwar kind of feeling instead of total grieving.
I really like the direction you went with this. You have nice harmonies, great instruments (AND wtf do you mean, "warning: bag pipes"!? WTF! >:O I love them :D !), and best of all, it's not catchy or especially sticky-outy. It doesn't beg attention, and it's really great for what you were trying to achieve.
I really liked this. It really got my attention :) Haha I've already listened to it 5 or 6 times already. Despite my over-analyzing when listening to songs (which makes the song more readable, therefore soon tiring), I could listen to this another 5 or 6 times :D:D Again, like I said, this is a really great track. I especially admire the strings? or quiet brass in the very background.

Good luck winning the MAC, I'm sure this is a competitive piece for any kind of contest >:D
-Vesta J ":D

Draqo responds:

Zomg! Wall of text O.o Not everyone likes bagpipes, so that's why I put the warning.

Thanks for the review. :D

Chill.

It just starts all nice and calm. It has its edge even through all the easy-goingness.
And after reading the title, I can see this as an end credits song.
The one thing you might want to change is turning down the bass around 1:27 and after that. It becomes a little boomy, but it's no big deal.
The thing I really like about this song is ..ok everything, but you know. A lot of the harmony is just really great, and those arps don't get tiring too soon. Nice.
-Vesta J

SuperGoodSound responds:

that's really my angle right now - making songs that are both 'easy-going' and yet edgy. I enjoy that type of thing a lot.

No shit!

Well if this didn't just blow me over.

..This is just pure awesomeness in itself!! Some parts were indeed randomly added, but this piece just speaks for itself.
It messes itself up, fixes itself, talks for itself, lives for it self, and it just says, "I AM INDEPENDENTLY EPIC AND MAJESTIC SHIT."

I'm just in my usual reviewing self, so I gratefully thank SBB for speaking for me.
(SBB: you did. End.)

Basically I have nothing left to say, but I just hope this review does something for you. Overall, it's just what you said it is. :D

Hades responds:

Well, thanks again, good to see the opinion of this being MAJESTIC EPIC SHIT is catching on. ;D

The "randomly added" bits were actually intentional, I wanted the piece to sound a bit more chaotic (seeing that the apocalypse probably isn't the most tidy and organized thing that can happen in your life), so it was supposed to sound uneasy, aggressive and unexpected.

And of course, your reviews are always more than helpful (and each one of them means a lot!), so I thank you for this one, too.

-.-

Along with the melody, those deep, low keys really add some weight to the song. Even though I'm more bass-oriented, they don't seem very pleasant to me. I guess it's intentional, to focus on the theme.
What you've got here is pretty dark. I can see this as many things. A depressing moment, a depressing introduction, sad end credits. This could work with many things; it's got the flexibility.
..Basically what I'm trying to say is that this works. Very much.
Kudos on a job well done ^^

ps. I don't think you need to work on the treble at all. It counters the deep keys and gives it a better sound. I think you should stick to this :)

Hades responds:

Well, for the theme that the author requested, it was supposed to sound as dark and depressing as possible, so I guess I hit the right spot with this one. ;)

Thanks especially for the comment on the piano treble, it's a breath of fresh air after all of the people saying it's too sharp-sounding for such a song.

*starts moving around*

I used to do this stuff all the time. I was pretty much expert at beat making, but I had the crappiest samples of all time. Back then I'd thought it sounded SO great, until I got a better ear for things. That MIDI stuff..I do have about 3 fully MIDI songs up, but they're not so bad. I acutally made lots of percussion-only, but had second thoughts of posting them up :\
So you have a good beat here. I'm going to have to admit that it got dull after a while, because it just had too many dry sounds. I know the point of this was to be purely percussional, though. I guess it had a good drive to it, but I just got bored after a while. It's a little too long, too. A couple of deeper, more 'wet' instruments probably could've livened it up a bit.
I'm not going to review your experimental song with FL, mostly because it was just a test-out. I did about 30 of those xD
-Vesta

Hades responds:

Well, I'm not ashamed to say this could have been a LOT better. But, as I said before, I was using Hydrogen at the time, and I'm afraid that program just doesn't have the capacities of FL. It does tend to be a bit difficult to make... well, pretty much anything in it. XD

Thanks for the reviews, I'll make sure to return the favor as soon as I have some free time on my hands!

Cheers!

Actually..

Frank's quite right. I knew it reminded me SOMETHING! Rave!!
Yes this would be pretty cool if it got extended. It's still very impressive--you were able to add all those effects and that spacey feel. To me, it honestly made me think of a Spacey Forest.. :P
The drum reverb isn't so bad..it's actually very fitting. Unless that was before the EQ.
It's the fast pace of the song that makes it so interesting to listen to!
You did a truly amazing job at this. It's a 15 second favorite.
-Vesta

Hades responds:

Yeah, but in order of raving it up, I should add some more brutal bass first. XD

Forest, you say? Never thought of that. Well, it's still a closer impression than Australia. (no offense, Victor) XD

Well, I don't think this is a bad song, especially since I wrote it in about 15 minutes. But we'll let CarbonWater be the judge of that.

Hey, you're right!

If I had Flash, I would so make a game with this track. Did you stick this in the Audio Ad thread?

Second review, and I LIKE it. None of your songs so far have made me feel obligated to review. This just sounds so cute! ^^
I love the tiny harmonies! And as far as I can see, the bass and rhythm are your strengths. The two together in you hands accomplish this wonderful, cute feel of happiness ^^ I feel like I'm holding an old handheld game (with 10x better sound quality) and playing it as I listen :P
And yes, it does loop very nicely. Interesting title, too. It makes me think of when some character has to jump over water or..yeah basically in a game.
Flash artists seriously need to hear this :O
-Vesta

Hades responds:

I'm more than happy you liked it! It really does sound a bit cute, doesn't it? XD

It was supposed to be for a game, but no-one has yet shown any interest in using it, even though I posted a few links for it (can't remember if I did so for the Audio Ads, however). :(

Once more, thanks for the kind words, I'm happy this made you happy. ;D
