More variation! Yay! I like the song. I haven't heard it before, so I'll go listen to it soon.
Guitar work is pleasing to hear. And again, nice song choice! Your voice goes well with the tune and simplicity of vocals+guitar. I think a couple notes sounded off, but I'm just guessing, since I don't know how the original goes. And, as always, I love. Your voice! X3
Keep singing! (Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about.)

FairSquare responds:

I think a couple of notes are off too.. :(
Thanks for the review and reassurance about my voice, because i really do need that :p
Thank you thank you thank yoooouuuu :D

I love it :D
You and your brother sound really good together! Nice mellowness with the song choice, nice guitar, and very nice vocals! :"D
Don't know what else to say. Do another one like this? X]
Very very nice. Just sort of instantly calms me down. Except the instantly part. But yeah. My mood just got turned around. :) Thank youuu.

FairSquare responds:

No, thank YOU :p
And maybe i (or we) will do another one like this.. i like to keep things varied though :)

Good work mister! I feel like this song requires a bit more energy from the voice though. You did better with it as the song progressed, though. So, you're right about your voice, but it's good to give other kinds of songs a try! Heck I still don't know what I'm suited for yet >.>
So! Not bad. Not bad at all. Lookin forward to your next cover :)

FairSquare responds:

Yeah.. maybe i don't use my voice correctly, because i feel that i do have that energy.. i just don't know how to properly put all that energy in my voice yet :p
Thanks for the review! Much appreciated :)

I always love your drums :D

Melody is so recognizably FairSquare. :P My favorite part is at around 1:40. And a nice refreshing filter on the cool drum beat sometime after that.
I like the uniqueness in your songs, and this one is no exception.. your sounds go well together like a well-balanced meal :p Also, this piece has some mysterious undertones and a certain funk to it that won't leave me alone.. :(
Good job on that ^__^
Interesting song to hear just into the new year.. :o Funkily foreboding...
Yesh. So there are my thoughts :O

FairSquare responds:

Haha, yay, a FairSquare melody :p
And thanks about the uniqueness comment, i try to make my songs a bit unique :)
I'm glad you liked my song and thanks for the review!

Love it

Ah. I can't get over your voice. It is just so, so easy to listen to, and it stands out a lot in its own unique way. And this type of music definitely complements it :D So, good choice on song.
Nice job, dear sir square who is very fair!

FairSquare responds:

Thank you! :)
All these compliments i get on my voice.. didn't expect them :p
Anyway, thanks for this review! Gives me a lot of motivation :3

Cool intro, song has potential

The bass is the most captivating in my opinion- it definitely holds the song together, and in combination with the harmony, feels more important than the melody for some reason. Actually that's good because it keeps the melody fresh. Yes. The simplicity of the drums is also very good, they hold a good rhythm without being complicated and just, perfect. The filtering also helped keep variation. And as usual, you know how to put together your instruments so they always sound great next to each other.
As for the whole song, it just feels unfinished and I do think this could be much more awesome (as you stated by not being the level you aimed for) and I think if you did make it the level you aimed for, well, I'd love to listen to it too xP

FairSquare responds:

Thanks!
I like your point on how the bass keeps the melody fresh :p
But yeah, this could be much more interesting, but you know.. time.. and life..
Ah well, thanks for the review! :D

Awesome theme!!

Intro is good, with a unique cutesy sound to it. There are several contradictory notes that don't sound too pleasing at points, but it doesn't really interrupt the flow you have here going on. I think what makes this stand out is your instrument use and progression. You have created a nice feeling --big points here :) of determination and some excitement about this whole thing that this person (whoever it is) must go through in order to feel some fulfillment. in life. Yeah.
My absolute favorite part starts at around 1:48 :D all the way up until 2:30, where its sounds simpler and just great. A little after the 2 minute mark, I feel that surge of themey-awesomeness and swelling spirits and it's pretty cool. :)
Then it gets all serious like BAM and the drums come in.
Ok, so good stuff! :)

FairSquare responds:

Contradictory notes?
I think i know what you mean, but as you said it didn't interrupt the flow and.. i'm a lazy person so i didn't change it :$
And i'm really glad that i succeeded in creating that feeling of a journey of some sort. In this case a personal journey :p
Anyway, i really appreciate this review so.. yeah, thanks! :D

Fighting actiony coolness :O

Cool stuff! I was definitely sucked in right away with the explosiveness.
You have good melodies and sequencing. Beat is constant if not a tad quiet, and you have an awesome action-game-thing going on. I wouldn't be surprised if I came across a game with this as its soundtrack.
this does have an older generation feeling, but that's entirely great. Inspiration, inspiration!
You have good progression and I'm loving that bass. This is pretty much just great. I think an explosive ending would suit the song much better than a fade out, I'd have to say though. To kind of "end" the fight, if you know what I mean. The fade out is not bad, I just don't think it's as fitting.
As for your sequencing, I think that following this style of music, you've got it handled :)

Wow! Thank you very much for the thorough review! :)

Great to hear that you really liked this song. As this is only my second original track, it's good to know that I'm on the right track. :) Although this song has yet to be used in a game (As of this writing), several of my other original tunes were! I ended up writing the entire soundtrack to a Flash game on Newgrounds called Robots VS Zombies (3 songs, 2 jingles). So, safe to say I've taken a good step forward as a beginning composer, eh?

Again, thank you very much! Reviews with so many details, like this one, really make my day. :)

DAMMIT!

I guess I'm screwed if I don't listen to 15 trancey dancey songs now...
darn sleep..
But wait...after countless repetitions of this..this..
PURE HORROR!!!
..It's kinda strangely ..dancey!! It's so rhythmically ..fascinating 0-O
*starts dancing away in hysterical, EVIL laughter*
MWAHAHAHAHA~

Aside from that, my friend, *cough* you do have EXCELLENT looping here! The best I've seen on NG for quite a while!! Although I was pretty close, I actually had to go back and cancel the looping to see just where it ended. That ending synth, which I shall call the Window Wiping Synth, uses an advantageous rhythm to provide the illusion of ever-lasting song .
MWAHAHA

FairSquare responds:

I will reveal a secret to you...
What you hear is only 1 synth. 1? Yes, 1.
I was making a piano song, but then i didn't feel like it anymore so i replaced the piano with a synth, tweaked it here and there... with this as a result >:-D

And yeah, the looping came out pretty good :)
Thanks for the review! And good luck with sleeping :)

I am indeed chasing a banana :P

You're so right. I love it :D So funkkyyy. The rhythm made me want to get up and dance! (Actually I am right now) The bass is sweet and the keys are cool and ooh just noticed, good work on the ending! I love how the sax fades out like that!! And as usual, you've got a great intro! :)
Ok, so the only thing really noticeable is that sax, it sounds too close to my ears, too pinchy. Maybe de-center its sound just a bit. Other than that, well, nothing! It's great :)

FairSquare responds:

Hmyeah, maybe that sax is a bit too sharp.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and happy it's a dance-able tune :D
Thanks for the review :)
