Nice mixing

I think the drums are a little too intense for the type of atmosphere you had before you introduced the beat. More like...it didn't suit too much the melody you had going on. Unless the drums were just overpowering in terms of loudness :p Speaking of the melodies, there were a bunch of mixed melodies like you had in your songs as MH16 :p Which of course makes the song busy and interesting to listen to, except this time felt it was more random? But not random. I don't know quite how to explain :p On another note, I think your best synth came at around 0:40. It's refreshing to hear. The intro is very nice too. I think the best aspect is definitely your mixing. There is a very nice balance of bass and treble and everything is clear. About the ending, it was really abrupt! It looked like it was about to take a few more seconds to end, but then, it was just over :o Maybe a little slowing down before the end? Or removing the drums a few measures early.. unless that is totally intentional :p

FairSquare responds:

Well, the idea with the drums was to smack you in your face :p
Like.. ''Hmm, this is nice *yawn*... WOAOHA DRUMS''
And i know what you mean with random, but not random. My earlier melodies were a bit more.. logical i think. And more predictable. The reason for that, is that with my earlier songs i always knew how the melody should go before i actually made the melody. That sounds vague :p
I mean, with my earlier songs i made the base first and then a melody on top of it. When the base was finished and i played it, i could already hear the melody while it wasn't there yet.. still sounds vague, but i can't explain it better :p
Now the difference is that i didn't have that with this song. I really had to figure out the melody.. it didn't go automatically as usual.
It's a good thing i guess.. :p
And that synth that comes in at 00:40 was there before the little break too :p Only with a different effect and a different role in the song.
The ending is a bit abrupt, i admit. I'll keep that in mind for my next song, to build it down more. Don't really feel like changing this song, but thanks for the advice anyway :)
Thanks for the review, you nice person you :D :D :D

Good rhythm!

I like the synths chosen! :D Together they have a very nice sound. Along with an interesting beat, and the piano was refreshing! My favorite part is around 1:50 with the intro of the new synth. It has a slightly different style than what I'm used to hearing from you..but man! I'm liking it. It has a good variety of...sound, like nothing sounds too repetitive or dull at all, I mean I could listen to this several times straight XD Excellent mixing too. Listening to this is very pleasant ":)

FairSquare responds:

Thanks! :)
I really do my best to prevent my songs from being boring :p
What to say, what to say? I don't know :p
Just, thank you :)

Nice!

It has a good sound and your vocals are great. The transition from the very start to where the music enters is surprisingly smooth. && I think it's interesting where you got your inspiration. The feel is much more different than what I get from most hip-hop, and like SonicJ says it does feel kinda old-school. I definitely like it; I won't get tired of this too quick. Keep it up man =)

i appreciate the review! and im glad you enjoyed it....i just got into college now so im trying to make some time to finish a mixtape so be on the lookout for that when i finally complete it....thanks again.

Still has that classic MH16 sound :]

Nice! I can easily say the best things about this song are sound quality and progression. Your instruments were very well chosen--> that piano fit those drums which fit those synths ...and it didn't sound very much like your old songs, when each instrument had their own beautiful melody but some of them repelled each other, resulting in melodies not being fully appreciated and/or drowned out by the other instruments which sometimes don't fit as well or might just need some tweaking.
Also, the progression is very nice. There is contrast here and there with volume and panning, and genereal rhythm changes that make it sound much more song-y. At first I didn't really like the 1st synth at :20 and I thought it was too loud, but I've come to like it as a spunky change, refreshing. The loudness just adds to that.
I especially LOVE that build up at 1:32. You worked the sounds to give that RUSHH feeling and it works beautifully! And, your intro was absolutely amazing btw :)

FairSquare responds:

Haha, yeah, my older songs were way less structured :p
And i'm glad you liked it so much :D
But where is the criticism? xD
Haha, nah, just kidding :p Thanks so much for your review! :)

Yes, this does have more of the classic MH sound:)

The beginning, I believe, sounds a little mushed by the piano chords. A little 1/16 of a second between each note in the chord would help a lot, as if... it is really being played out live--> all the keys aren't smushed down at the same time. I don't know, I guess that's petty details :P
After that , though, when the strings came in--especially the drums-- it was pretty amazing. I loved it around 1:00. And the ending was good. It was overall a pretty soft song. Pretty-sounding and softly epic :]

FairSquare responds:

Ah, that's some good advice about the chords. I'll change that :-)
And yay, the MH sound is back :D
Thanks for the review, i appreciate it. And you should upload a new song too ^^

Average...sounds experimental.

I really love the drum sounds, thugh I think they could modified a little. Definitely not your best. You used bright synths but I feel like they were failing to lighten up the room, but that's probably because they lacked this ...thing...the MH16 sound, you know what I mean? It sounded way too lame coming from you. Definitely not your best when it comes to overall sound and feeling. It's like a glum and dull person suddenly trying, unsuccessfully, to cheer up his friends.
The first 15 seconds were my absolute favorite, it was nice and simple but I didn't expect what came afterward much later in the song... it just sounded like it was trying too hard to sound complicated when it would've sounded great much simpler. I'm listening to it again for the 3rd time and it does sound better, so it may just have been a first-impression problem...but what I'm guessing is that your learning of theory and musical composition is messing you up like you said. It does make you more aware and less creative at times but it'll wear off :P

oh man what a wall :P lol

FairSquare responds:

The MH16 sound.. lol :p
But yeah, this is not really one of my best works. I really hope that i'll find my sound back :p
Thanks for the review and i love your comparisons. ''It's like a glum and dull person suddenly trying, unsuccessfully, to cheer up his friends.'' xD

This can certainly sustain a happy mood!

The synth that came in the middle of the song was pretty unexpected, but the melody it sang was really cute and fit in. If it's possible, that new synth could be tweaked a little on the dry/wet scale or a different synth might blend better.
I can't say anything about the sound quality or balance because my ear is a little messed up right now and even the A.C. sounds higher pitched ^^'
But yeah this song is just happy and determined and exerts a nothing-can-stop-me-from-doing-what-m akes-me-happy attitude. And the rhythm is very good! I don't know what much else to say, but I like it :D

FairSquare responds:

Hmm, yeah, maybe you're right about that synth. I'll see what i can do about that, but tomorrow. I really don't feel like changing the song now :P
Well, thanks for the review :D

Wow! I should have a block for for a little while.

A lot better at harmonizing now, I see! A beautiful blend of different sounds--I know you choose your instruments right most of the time, but this one really stands out. Nice! The beginning immediately set the mood out, which is very good. (I almost wrote 'food' xD ..no seriously, I am finding that really funny...I guess your song hyped me up :P)
WEll, I did really only notice one second where it sounded a litle 1:25-- maybe just too many notes there. Flute(?) was good, and it did weirdly seem to fit the brassy sounds.
The drums and bass kicked some ass with those strings, dude.. :D
Oh yeah-- If it's possible, you should reduce the file size--there may be as many downloads as votes for this :D

p.s. You need to donate some music-title-creating talent to me...

FairSquare responds:

Haha, thanks for the awesome review! :-)
And about 1:25.. yeah, too many notes there :P
I really appreciate your review! :D

MH16

P.s. Sorry, but for some reason Paypal has no option to send talent :-(

Inspiring and other stuff.

I remember listening to this a while ago. I thought left something?

Anyway, I really like the song overall. The song's lyrics gave off a slightly confusing impression in ways that seemed like you were trying to console, explain, and inspire at the same time. And the easy flow you put through the lyrics to get that across is really admirable.
For the most part, you spoke in sync with the song really well, and had a couple of those throw-offs that wowed me. The intro was a little off, though.
The way in which you spoke your lyrics reminds me of me when I got into writing and rapping after listening to Fort Minor, then I found myself making music to it. I never finished, though. So it's really good to hear this song; its chords and words combine to form a sort of deep sentiment. So I definitely hear some of Shinoda-influence here :P
5/5

Burly responds:

Wow, I wish I could say I did all those things on purpose. I don't listen to Fort Minor all that much, but now that I think of it, it might have crept in there without me realizing it. This was a very experimental song for me, I had never rapped or written anything close to that sound and style before.

Thanks for the equally inspiring review.

Good for you.

Experimenting is fun ! And you're doing a good job of it. You chose good sounds, and I especially like 1:06 to the end. Plus it loops nice enough, I couldn't tell for a second.

rutrider responds:

lol... I still have to figure out what to do to have it NOT cut off the last couple seconds so I can get the REAL songs up... but at least it prevents the plagerism of the jerks who want to use my crap for their own... :P

thnx :)
