Fresh...jazzy =D

I love the winds and brass. Along with the cymbals/hats, it has a nice cool rhythm to it. And your melodies are just great! ^o^
The progression of the song is excellent, and the instruments all have this wonderful harmony to them. Beautiful. You're very much improving, just work on your mixing. *hypocrite!!*
"who said that?"
*me...~!! your conscience!!*
"damn.."
Lol :P My only suggestion is lower the ride cymbals-->They give the song a nice loose, nearly windy feel, but are too loud compared to the other instruments and sometimes make it distracting--->and to RAISE the piano a LITTLE, as well as your bassest instrument (I can't tell just what instrument exactly it is..but whatever is playing the bottom most notes). As for the piano, I can hardly hear it sometimes, and would help to lessen the repetition of the of the rest of the instruments if it were to shine little more.
But don't equalize anything! It's not going to do much for your song the way it is now...your song is under control, so it's fine.
So yeah..just lower the rides and raise the piano and that bass instrument. That's it.
And haha, you've titled the song perfectly so when I saw it, I was like ah... I can relax after school and just chill. ^^ Thanks man, this is what I needed!

Lol, thanks for the compliment about my melodies.
I listened to your advice :-)
I really appreciate your reviews!

Mighty!

At the very beginning, I was like, HUH?? And then I read, lol.
Your introduction into the main synths was very nice, after the chaos of the very beginning.
You might want to turn up the bass a tad and lower the snare-->it gets too repetitive and blocks the synths(at sections like 2:40). Because it is loud, it interferes with the whole sound and makes it really, really dry sounding, since the synths also sound like that for the midsection of the song. If you think it might sound less powerful, you could turn up the kicks(they are together with the snare..right?) if you lower the snare.
Aww..the ending is very beautiful. A more refreshing damper sound after the mightiness of the thunder when the synths begin to fade into softer notes made for a really nice ending :)

Hotplurplegnome responds:

thanks alot!
really i have almost no mixing-knowledge:S
so anything helps
yeah good idea on skipping the bell synth for a damper fresher sound but in the hardstyle scene the bell synth is more common(not that im much of a trend whore:P (more of a trendsetter;D))
but i don't agree on lowering the snare because if i do it disappears into the kick
but more bass?....
i thought i was over mixing the sub...:S but if thats what you want...then i guess the next track will be BASSY :P

Whoa!

Funky >xP The beginning was absolutely amazing! The drums really held most of the anger, I think. And the bass was being all badass, supporting the drums and leading onto the guitar melody.
Once that came in, all slow and leaking out frustration alongside the drums, I think that's when the song really started to come together for a short while. Plus, I really loved it when it calmed down around 1:12.
This piece has excellent rhythm and was overall just breathtaking. Definite frustration, though the title implied a more madness to it. That guitar certainly calmed down the piece for a short while until it led to that near silence. There was much variety in the piece's overall feel. I love it! :D
I can't say how much I adore this piece! The mixing is well done, the drums are AMAZING, as well as the guitar, which implied a more pessimistic note over the rage of the drums and the following bass. Aah! I love every second of this! ^o^

Thanks for the review :-)

Ahh..

You have really nice melodies, and I am in awe of the whole piece. Reverbing is excellent, and the flutes sound amazing.
The tragedy is that is sounds too busy. What I think this piece needs is some breaks! Sometimes the top notes don't flow with the mid/lower notes. =o

I think the only thing that needs work is balance. Balance creates a flowier rhythm for all the notes to shine at their right moment. Otherwise, it sounds like a jumble of notes. I think you could do better with the top melody-->it sounds nearly as if you merely pulled the perfect harmonizing notes and scattered them across the bass and mid notes in a messy way.
Because I absolutely love the beginning. At some parts like :34, though, it kinda goes from distinct to indistinct when it comes to the melody.....I don't know quite how to describe it.
Either the tempo needs slowing down, or remove a few notes to calm it down just a tad. The very bass parts are perfect, though, and they come in at their own time, as you put it, ok no wait. The very top flute is a bit loud. It doesn't seem to lower in volume much through the entire piece.
Argh, I don't want to sound like a stupid hoe. So forgive me if I do. D:
I love 1:47 as well as :20 when the top flute comes in. Try changing up the rhythm a bit so it doesn't get stale too fast, which would be horrible since the flutes have such a fresh feeling to them, especially in the intro when everything is new (kinda like this review..saying so many words to get a single point across >.<) And the overuse of the note 'A'..too many of those chords. Unless it's because this is my 10th time listening to the song and I tend to overanalyze after a while.. and ah I really love :40 and at about 1 minute. ^^

Overall, rhythm could use a little adjustment, the high flute could lower a bit, and this kinda makes me think of little kids in the forest, exploring..something to do with medieval stuff...or basically refreshing stuff. :P
I hope this was helpful! =o

FairSquare responds:

Thanks for this critical, but helpful review.
Seriously, when you write a long review like this there are always some things that are helpful :P
Thanks!

Nice, chillout music.

It does sound a tad muffled, but it gives it a warmer feel.
Perfect little short for the collab ;D Don't you dare say it's not that great!
It sounds lovely; a charming short piece :D
This could work for a scene at a quiet little restaurant, as credits for a cute, contemplative series. Agh. I love it =D
It starts out chill, and then rises a bit to keep going, and then at :20, builds again and then crashes softly. Excuse me for the lack of better words ^^'
But it would take me a while to get tired of it. <3

KgZ responds:

Hahahaha, thanks alot <3

Me likey.
Me LOVEY!
And me not understand the kind of bombing this received <=o

Anyhow, I like the kind of messy feel this has, yet the sort of organized chaos it creates.
Sigh..I guess I could say I'm not in my usual mood for reviewing so I won't be able to tell you all I want just now.

I can really see this in any type of animation. This actually reminds me of background music for this one TV show..

I heard some guiros, I think..the whole song has this foreign feel to it, especially around 1:15, when the song made a quick turn around...the melody with that particular instrument had that kind of effect. Foreign, dreadful stuff, and a kind of frightening introduction to a new place.
And the bass! AH! I love it >:D It's so badass with the beat following it in a good and fitting rhythm for the song. Argh, I hope I'm making sense.
The ending...at first I wasn't sure of it, but now, I really see how it fits. I do think it was very good.
As for the song's story, it is very fitting and I thought it served its purpose to the fullest. I like reading an outline for a song I'm listening to. It gives me a more accurate image. And it's very well written.
The variety of instruments you used and the floating, half-distinguishable melodies really incorporate some great ideas for Flash stuff.
It's really good, basically :P

Hades responds:

Woah, now that's a massive review indeed! ;D

As for the guiros, that's my guess, too, but I've found the sound in an exotic-percussion collection so I can't be 100% certain of what it is. :P
That part at 1:15 I'm actually really proud of, as I'm generally not as good at making complex rythmic patterns sound decent, and I believe that the cello really made it feel very exotic and powerful.
The story itself wasn't much of a problem, as it is basically my interpretation of a world used in a post-apocalyptic game. But I dare say that this is the maximum of my writing abilities. XD

Anyway, I'm really glad you liked it so much, and as always, thanks for the review. ;D

Me too.

REally like the mood this sets. Quiet, and cotemplative. Ambient with few distinct sounds. I like it.

aww!

What struck me the most about this song is its cuteness! ^^
The effects and synths were good and the beat was simple but effective.
It makes me feel all dancey!! A real nice house feel. *danses away* :"D

hey!

I'm seeing you everywhere, man. i was looking up video game songs and there you were ^^
You're posting up stuff more often now :D YAY!

It's a pretty sweet track--it's not as cheesy as I imagined--most of your stuff has this badass feel to it, but this really puts me in the gaming mood! >:D It's that bassline that drives the whole song.
Kinda spacey, and techie.. not particularly catchy --except the bass--> those parts I usually remember most. It was refreshing, though, for the bass to let up every now and then. Also, I like the pauses put in between to relax the piece a little. For me, it felt cool, but a little uptight. It's just me, probably, but I felt some weird drama.
As for the ending, as usual, it was very satisfying..like you don't regret that it ended so fast and left that slight lingering. Oh and the beginning had a nice intro, especially, and the beat got it moving right away, with the driving bass.
Haha :D Now I having a little animated me in my head dancing around ^^ *danses away*

WEll shit.

Regardless of the contest or anything, this is pretty crazy.
In a sort of organized way.. but I really, really like it. The guitar was like a controlled beast, and the drums were the second best part. But then there's the bass..
Shit, I like it all. This is so damn underrated..
This could work really well in a flash series that has lots of fights. Man if I had flash right now, I'd definitely use this. It's inspiring! Kudos on the madness it evokes!
